APPLE VALLEY, Minn. - Three brown bears at the Minnesota Zoo had a chance to romp through a campsite in a demonstration that zoo officials hope will help educate campers.

Zookeeper Ben Sutton said Sadie, Haines and Kenai were drawn to the mock campsite right away during Saturday's presentation. It only took minutes for them to destroy the camp.

Keepers placed apples and biscuits in the tent and oranges and carrots in a hanging sack.

They also purposely made mistakes in setting up the camp, including leaving food in the tent and hanging the sack within reach of the bears.

Sutton says that the animals would be more attracted to hot dogs or chips in the wild instead of the healthier foods.

Zoo visitor Ottar Schmitz says the demonstration was a bit intimidating.
