TALK about rock-and-rodent. Meet the Boomtown Rats – these super furry animals are the cheesiest couple in showbiz.

These incredible pictures show pet rats Moppy and Witje, who have been taught by Ellen van Deelen to pose with a variety of instruments.

The "very intelligent" creatures learned to hold everything from panpipes to flutes, tubas, trombones, banjos and even saxophones.

Ellen, 51, came up with the idea after seeing a tiny guitar for sale in a shop window.

The photographer, from Roosendaal in Holland, said: “When I held the camera they did whatever I wanted them to do. They are so clever they even recognise their own names.

“They know exactly how to pose and both are really talented actors. We have a really good understanding. They always know what I am saying.”

A pal said: "These two animals are so cute - they love playing with all the instruments. And when it comes to having their picture taken, it's impossible to say which of them is the vainest. Who knows what she might get them to try next."

Mice work if you can get it.

Here's a list of what the Rat Pack could "play"...

Rat out of hell
Rat to Black
Bohemian Ratsody
CigarRats and alcohol
Blue suede cheese
Shake Rat-tle and roll
