Scarborough and Trigg beaches have been reopened following the sighting of a three-metre shark this morning.
John Snook from the City of Stirling said the beaches were declared safe for swimmers about 11.15am, nearly two hours after the initial sighting.
Mr Snook said there was only one reported sighting of a shark about 100 metres off Trigg beach about 9.30am, triggering an evacuation of the water and an aerial search.
Despite extensive searches of the Trigg and Scarborough waters, the shark was yet to be spotted again.
A spokesman from Surf Life Saving WA said the Westpac Rescue Helicopter tracked the shark's movements off the beaches until it disappeared from sight.
