LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE (CBS) — A bear sighting has neighbors in La Canada Flintridge on high alert Saturday.
Fish and Game officials said a wandering bear that recently attacked backyard chickens in the Altadena foothills, Friday, could be the same large black bear that’s been reported invading the foothills neighborhood recently.
The Altadena Sheriff’s Department said they’ve gotten several calls about the bear.
Residents described it as a large animal that appears to be three to four years old.
After the bear ate a resident’s chickens, deputies notified state Fish and Game.
The bear recently started foraging in local trash cans.
Officials are asking all residents to make sure that their pets are indoors at night and their trash cans are secured.
They are even recommending bear proof trash cans, which can be purchased at sporting and hardware stores.
