Melghat tiger reserve targeted
June 2013. The local crime branch in Nagpur (LCB) has nabbed two tiger poachers belonging to the notorious Baheliya community (a tribal community of hunters and bird catchers). The two are part of a 30-member gang which claims to have killed five tigers in the region over the last month and sold the tiger skins to a trader in North India. Police caught the poachers on while they were finalizing a deal for a tiger skin. The poachers claim that they killed the tigers in Melghat Tiger Reserve.

Media reports also indicate that poachers have killed at least four more tigers in Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh.
