Fun-loving alpacas cause a stir in Devon village

They may look cute but these alpacas are willing to jump through hoops to prove they are more than just a pretty face.

The trio – Inca, Al Paca and Blue Picchu – have even learned how to kick footballs thanks to their dog trainer owner Indi Mae.

The 59-year-old admits she gets funny looks when she walks her pets on a lead in the village of Appledore in Devon.

‘Folk think I’m bonkers,’ she said.

‘They can now do some of the agility and kick a ball like they are playing football, they enjoy weaving and retrieving.’

She added: ‘It has also been important to train them for the road so they can now sit on the kerb, wait and walk on.

‘I think people coming out of the pubs have thought they are drunker than they are when they see three alpacas walking along the pavement.’

She spends four hours a day training the animals and now plans to use them for walking tours of her village.

Alpacas are native to mountain ranges in South America but are not known for their athleticism.
