Fat cat slim: Obese pet starts fitness regime after reaching 23lbs

An overweight and severely matted cat is undergoing treadmill treatments to shed the pounds to a healthy body weight. King Leo, a 23lb Maine Coon cat was found on the side of the road in Nashville, Tennessee, meowing inside a carrier case. The ten-year-old cat was taken to Metro Animal Care and Control and then transported to Cat Shoppe Rescue where he received care. Owner and veterinary technician LaTisha Lampley, 34, adopted King Leo after caring for him at Animalia Health and Wellness. King Leo had over 2lbs of fur shaved off of him, and is undergoing water treadmill sessions to build strength and lose weight. LaTisha and her family are monitoring his caloric intake and incorporating playtime exercises in their home in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The cat, aptly named King Leo, was found on the side of the road in Nashville, Tennessee weighing 23lbs (that’s the same weight as a bowling ball) and with severely matted hair.
The ten-year-old cat was taken to Cat Shoppe Rescue where he received care, before being adopted by veterinary technician, LaTisha Lampley who gave him a trim and is working on reducing his weight.

LaTisha said of the massive moggy: ‘He is the biggest cat of his size frame with that much weight on him that I’ve seen.’
