the Elephant led the charge as his football team gave a performance to remember
in Nepal yesterday.
Elephant
soccer wowed the crowds at the Sauraha National Park as part of Nepal’s
Elephant Festival.
The
festival is an annual event aimed at raising awareness for wildlife
conservation. Other games over the period included an elephant race and an
elephant beauty contest.
Yesterday
saw the the final day of the event at Sauraha in Chitwan, about 170 km south of
Kathmandu.
Teams
sponsored by Kist Bank and the Gasuri Shankar Bank fought it out on the
pitch, with Kist Bank winning 6-0 and Pelé taking ‘mammoth of the match’.
