Orcas captured to entertain the Olympic crowds [petition]

Two orcas are set to be transported to Sochi in Russia to entertain the Olympics crowds. The two are part of a group of seven whales caught last year by a Russian company just off the coast of Japan. The two will head for an aquarium in the resort of Sochi.

Please sign the petition below to send an email to Team GB, the British Olympic Association, to condemn the capture of wild orca whales to entertain the athletes and spectators at the Olympic resort.

Email petition closes 28th February 2014.

Swiss Shepherd dog adopts three tiger cubs at Russian zoo

The white mutt, called Tallim, took Olymp, Dar and Talli under her wing after their biological mother Bagira rejected them just after they were born on November 14.

This strange, but heart-warming, tale occurred at the Oktyabrsky zoo in Sochi but it wasn't as spontaneous as it first seemed as the zoo had advertised the position for mother online.
Bagira had abandoned two previous cubs so the workers at the institution had known they would have to find a new mother to fill in.

Many would have thought another tigress was best suited to the role but staff at the zoo decided a Shepherd dog from Yeysk was adequate enough.

The hound now breast feeds the youngsters in a ritual that could only be described as bizarre.

The zoo workers have assured everyone the young tigers are unlikely to harm their new mum.
