LAKE CITY — Real monster, Lake Pepin legend, whimsical creature, friendly primordial animal, figment of the imagination?
It really doesn't seem to matter what Pepie is, or if there really is a 20-foot-long creature swimming in the lake. It only matters that people get a kick out of it and that it helps bring attention, and tourists, to towns along the lake. Pepie is big enough that you can buy Pepie stuffed animals, T-shirts, coffee mugs and even Pepie Porter beer.
