Colony of 80,000 bats driven out of city of Charters Towers in Australia – video report

Some 80,000 bats are driven out of Australia's Charters Towers city in north Queensland using helicopters, gun blasts, smoke machines and hose pipes. The red flying foxes had been roosting in a local park, causing a nuisance to many residents. Many bats circle back to return to the trees. The council plans to repeat the dispersal programme.
