Police in Kent have captured a giant runaway rabbit after it was spotted in the middle of a busy road in Canterbury in the early hours of Sunday. It took several failed attempts before two police officers took off their coats to stage a bullfighting manoeuvre on the lost pet.
Kent Police said several passers-by were needed to help capture the bunny who has been nicknamed Tiny.
Pcs Matt Jackson and Yasmin Mossadegh spotted the animal in Northgate.
A spokeswoman for Kent Police said that Pc Jackson "hopped to it when his colleague confirmed it was not a figment of his imagination".
Rabbit rescue squad
"Kind-hearted, pet-loving" members of the public came to the officers' assistance when they saw them struggling. It eventually took 10 pairs of hands to end the rabbit's time on the run, she added.
The rabbit rescue squad pursued the animal down the road before it was detained.
It was taken to the Barton animal hospital in New Dover Road, Canterbury, for collection by the RSPCA.
It is still not known where the rabbit came from, the spokeswoman said.
