Delta passenger who filmed bird strike warned by FAA

A passenger aboard a Delta Air Lines, Inc. flight who filmed a bird strike that caused an emergency landing has been warned by the Federal Aviation Administration to follow rules regarding electronic devices or face a penalty next time, reports CNN.
On April 19, Grant Cardone was aboard a Delta (NYSE: DAL) flight bound for Los Angeles that made an emergency landing atJohn F. Kennedy International Airportin New York after encountering an engine problem the pilot said was caused by a bird strike. Cardone filmed the incident out of a plane window and the video was posted on website RightThisMinute.com.
The FAA investigated and sent Cardone a letter after the story received widespread media attention, CNN reported.
The FAA requires that portable electronic devices be turned off during critical phases of flight, CNN said. The rule aims to prevent interference with the aircraft’s navigation and communication systems.
Cardone, who is identified on the RightThisMinute.com site as an international business expert, told CNN that while he is certainly not above the law, the rule does not make a lot of sense.
"To think that a device, a telephone or this iPad can take down a plane is ridiculous, because figure 90 percent of all people in America now have an iPhone on them," Cardone said. "Nineteen percent of all people have a tablet of some sort. If only 10 percent of passengers on that plane had their device in the on position, thousands of planes would fall out of the sky every day."

Snake Pops Out Of Plane Dashboard During Flight (VIDEO)

CANBERRA, Australia -- An airline executive says a pilot on a cargo run found a snake loose in his light plane and turned back to his north Australian base.
In a scene reminiscent of the 2006 movie "Snakes on a Plane," pilot Braden Blennerhassett saw the snake's head pop out from under the dashboard of his twin-engine Beechcraft Baron G58 shortly after takeoff from Darwin airport on Tuesday.
Air Frontier director Geoff Hunt said Thursday that his employee was a "cool character" who told air traffic control: "I'm going to have to return to Darwin. I've got a snake on board the plane."
The reptile quickly slithered away. A snake handler was later unable to find the snake, which might have escaped after the plane landed. The snake's species is not known.

Bat on a plane sparks panic

A bat on a plane caused panic among passengers on board a flight in the US.

The animal was filmed flying through the cabin during a Delta Airways flight from Madison, Wisconsin, to Atlanta' Georgia.

It caused so much distress that the pilot was forced to return to the departure airport, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Passenger Mike Schmidt filmed the bat flying over passengers' heads as they ducked and screamed.

The animal was finally contained when it flew into the onboard toilet and a passenger shut the door.

Mr Schmidt said: "I woke up to a small scream and then I saw the bat fly over my head.

"I grabbed my phone to get some video as my friends would never believe this.

"It went up and down the aisle about four to five times before being trapped in the back lavatory
