Bear saved from head-trapped-in-milk-can nightmare
Tom Phillips
A black bear has been rescued after getting its head stuck in a milk can for at least six hours.
It took a Vermont state biologist, firefighters and police about 45 minutes to free the bear's head from the old-fashioned can.
Biologist Forrest Hammond, from the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, said the bear had been running around and bumping into trees and boulders.
Hammond first tried using soap to lubricate the bear's head so the can could be pulled off - but that didn't work. In the end, firefighters helped him cut the can off.
