Campbell Newman, the Premier of Queensland, Australia, has promised the Steve Irwin Reserve on Cape York will be protected forever from mining under new legislation.
The state’s head of government announced plans to convert the Wenlock River into a ‘strategic environmental area’, effectively ending all attempts to mine the area.
