Tiger dies in Tirupati zoo

TIRUPATI: An aged tiger died at Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park here on Thursday. The tiger, Ram, was housed in the Animal Rescue Centre attached to the zoo after it was rescued from a circus a few years back.

Against the average lifespan of 20 years, ‘Ram’ lived for 27 years. The big cat was suffering from a stomach disorder for the last three months and hence was not taking proper diet. Turning weary due to ageing, it died a slow, yet natural death on Thursday. After performing post-mortem at the Veterinary College mortuary, it was cremated by the zoo authorities.
