Local Conservation project - The Endangered Species Centre at Wildwood - celebrates £18500 cash boost

Today, the Wildwood Trust has been informed that they have been successful in their application for £18,500 of funding from grants scheme Viridor Credits, as part of their support of environmental and community based projects.

The funding comes from money that Viridor Waste Management would have to pay as landfill tax to the government, on rubbish it disposes of at its landfill sites. This money instead goes to help support good causes like Wildwood Trust. The generous donation will be used to create a conservation centre at Wildwood, to support endangered British species. The centre will help to give visitors the opportunity to learn more about some of the UK ’s rarest and most elusive creatures, and see at first hand conservation work in action.

Overjoyed at the announcement, Beth Flowers, Wildwood Fund Raising Officer said: "The grant that we have received will be invaluable in helping to protect some of the UK ’s most endangered species. We can't wait to get started on the Wildwood Endangered Species Centre and look forward to improving our local environment for everyone to enjoy."

A huge range of British animals can be seen at the Wildwood Discovery Park , for more information visit the website at www.wildwoodtrust.org or telephone 01227 712111.
