A St. Petersburg, Florida homeowner saw what she thought was a large dog near her pool on March 21, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
On second glance, she realized it was the elusive St. Pete monkey, sighted several times in the past year. It fell into her pool but emerged safely and left, taking some grapefruits from her backyard tree, the paper reported. The city of St. Petersburg is on Florida’s west coast. Monkeys are not native to the area.

Why is it a "mystery"? It's a macaque from a small population that lives near Silver Springs. This individual was driven out of its community, and has been traveling generally SW, looking for more of its kind. Now it's stuck on the southern tip of Pinellas. No huge mystery at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat's interesting for you cryptozoology believers is how you explain the fact that we've been able to track this one monkey for 7 months, with numerous clear pictures, while an entire breeding population of Skunk Apes are supposed to be living in the same area and no cryptzoologist can find one. That's a real mystery.
