Runaway Jack Russell found 50 miles from home after train ride to London

Roving Jack Russell Frankie staged an early morning breakout from his Kent home last week before travelling over two miles to catch a 6:56am service to King's Cross from Gravesend Station.

The tenacious terrier was captured on CCTV waiting on the platform for the rush hour train before calmly hopping onto a carriage.

Bemused commuters watched the crafty mutt scurrying up the aisle of the train before finally settling for a seat by a window.

The six-year-old was on the loose for over 30 minutes before he was eventually detained by train manager Richard Cheeseman and bought into the manager's office.

Owner Jane Abbott was stunned after receiving a call from station staff, who rang the contact number on his collar, telling her Frankie had made it all the way to the capital.

'I normally get greeted by Frankie when I get up, but not this morning,' she explained.

'I looked all over the house and in the garden but there was no sign of him.'
