COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman who was wanted for cruelty to charges and avoided arrest for three years was in custody on Monday.

According to the Columbus city attorney's office, Angel Barido had arrest warrants issued on four charges, with some dating back to 2008.

Animal control officers allegedly found two dogs in Barido's abandoned apartment. One was starved to death in its own pool of blood.

The other dog appeared scared, emaciated, and on the brink of starvation, the city attorney's office said.

Barido, 30, also failed to appear in court to numerous traffic violations, according to the city attorney.
