Ross-shire artists' monster project takes shape!

An artistic collaboration forged in Ross-shire hits the bookshelves this weekend — 12 years after it was first devised.
Rosemarkie writer Elizabeth Sutherland and Conon Bridge artist and storyteller Lizzie McDougall launch their book – Columba And The Monstrous Wurrrm – on Sunday.
The two worked together in 1998 on the back of the Brahan Seer Festival on a project called Celtic Trails. A bus trip to important Highland locations in local tales combined stories and sketching sessions.
The stories feature many local places including Rosemarkie, Eathie Glen near Cromarty, Kintail, Loch Ness and Stratherrick.
Lizzie laughed: “We had been talking about doing our book for a long time, but last year we decided we would definitely make a start.”
Elizabeth gave me some of the stories she had chosen and I began to work on ideas for the drawings.”
The cover is based on Lizzie’s dramatic painting of Nessie, Saint Columba and two sailing companions.
