Tuesday, March 17, 2009In further damning proof that alcohol abuse has reached rampant levels in Japan this seal was snapped glugging sake in a pool in midday.
Billy the Baikal Seal, a star in the Hakone-en aquarium in Hakone, was following a local hangover cure, while pretending it was a performing trick.
Lying in a hot bath to sweat out the impurities Billy also lay a cooling rag on his forehead to dull the headache. Meanwhile the sozzled seal held a large bowl of sake ready to get right back on the sauce again.
Looking decidedly worse for wear Billy glowered at the Japanese paraprazzi shortly before hurling the sake in their direction, clapping his flippers vigorously and sticking his tongue out in an endearing fashion.
A spokesman for the zoo said Billy had been battling his sake addiction for six years.
