July 24, Colombo: A tense situation occurred this evening inside the Sri Lanka's only zoological gardens in Dehiwala when an elephant attacked his mahout.
According to the sources, the female elephant named "Indi" has attacked her mahout just before commencing the daily elephant dancing at the zoo.
The critically injured mahout has been admitted to the Colombo South teaching hospital.
The reason to the fidgety behavior of the elephant is not known yet, but the officials of the zoological gardens have already commenced a probe over the incident.
