Public demonstration at Chinese Embassy tomorrow (25 January) calls on government to kill the ivory trade, not the elephants

The Chinese Government will be asked to ban the trade in ivory, destroy all its ivory stocks and close its ivory carving factories during a peaceful demonstration outside its London Embassy on Saturday, 25 January.

Action for Elephants UK, supported by the international wildlife charity Care for the Wild and the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) is holding the public demonstration to raise awareness of China’s ivory trade, which is responsible for driving the slaughter of an estimated 40,000 African elephants each year – a figure that equates to one elephant killed, just for its tusks, every 15 minutes.
