A German MP has called for DNA testing on dog poop so law enforcement can track the animal down and fine the owner.
Peter Stein, a conservative MP in east Germany, said he would establish a DNA dog database that officers would use once they had tested the offending faeces.
Stein said only four people were given a 40 euro fine last year in his home town of Rostock for not cleaning up after their dog.
