Mr Jones' record attempt began in South Africa on 1 May and it will certainly fall into the 'do not try this at home' category.
David, 44 and from Crawley, has spent the last four months in a 5x4 metre room with 40 dangerous snakes.
Amongst the snakes in the room there are two black mambas, two green mambas, three snouted cobras and 27 puff adders, all of which are deadly to humans.
David has already broken the previous record of 113 days, but decided to stay in the room to take the new record up to four months.
As he started his record attempt David wrote: "When I stepped into the room on Saturday 1st May as you can imagine I was fairly nervous, the room felt much smaller now there were 40 venomous snakes in there. As I entered the room there is a branch above my head and sitting on that branch was 3 boomslang (sic) and a Green mamba."
A boomslang is a small venomous snake native to sub-Saharan Africa, while National Geographic say the black mamba is widely considered the world's deadliest snake.
David has not left the room in the last four months, so he has slept, eaten and even been to the toilet while his slippery roommates have looked on.
Before setting off on his record attempt, David told the BBC that there were many things concerning him about the record attempt, he said: "I'm not terrified - concerned, yes, for a lot of reasons. Not just the fact they are venomous snakes and there is a very real possibility of ending up in hospital, I'm also leaving a wife, I'm leaving a son and I'm leaving my family for four and a half months."
In 2009 a similar attempt at the record was made, but Natie Swart failed as he was bitten three times by a puff adder and suffered permanent leg damage; in fact he narrowly avoided having his leg amputated.
David's record attempt is yet another crazy world record to have fallen recently, click through the images below for a look at some of the other recent world record attempts.
