Meet the first man to catch 1,000 different species of fish

Sep 8th 2010 By Bonnie Biess

Steve spent 20,000 hours on riverbanks, piers, beaches and boats waiting for a fish, ranging from a tiny minnow to a 900-pound shark. He has forked over more than £65,000 and racked up over one million air miles crisscrossing the globe with his rod and tackle over the last decade. His efforts finally paid off when he ensnared a 2-pound coalfish in a Norwegian fjord to net the record that is being dubbed the "Cast of a Thousand."

Kudos to you, Steve. We appreciate you keeping our waters clear of giant mutant goldfish that could kill us all. However, we do request a family photo, if one of these monsters tries to chew your daughter's arm off.
