Distressed dolphin put to sleep

CREW members of Port Talbot's inshore lifeboat are no strangers to being called out when swimmers get into trouble.
But their latest shout was a bit more unusual than most — because this particular swimmer was a dolphin stranded on the high water mark at Morfa Beach.
RSPCA officials and volunteers with the Port Talbot Coastguard also attended.
The RNLI's Port Talbot station spokesman Mel Cooper said: "We were called out to provide safety cover in case they decided to try to get the dolphin back into the water, as there would then be a lot of people wading out," he said.
"Unfortunately, although the dolphin did not appear to be physically injured, it was in an extremely distressed state and it was decided to put it down.
"The RSPCA took the dolphin to London Zoo to undergo tests."
