Footage has been captured of an elephant mother rescuing her calf from deep mud in the African bush.
A video uploaded on YouTube by Kruger Sightings shows the tiny elephant up to its hindquarters in mud as the rest of its herd gathers round.
As a warthog looks on from the foreground, the calf’s mother manages to wrap her trunk around the youngster and yank it out of the quagmire.
