Solar lights needed so tigers avoid Indian village

March 2014: In a bid to reduce human and wildlife conflict in Sundarbans National Park WWF India have set up a crowdfunding campaign to raise money towards installing 25 solar lights along the forest fringe.

The Sundarbans National Park is a National Park, Tiger Reserve, and a Biosphere Reserve located in the Sundarbans delta in the Indian state of West Bengal.

It is hoped that theses light will deter tigers from straying into Samshernagar, an area adjacent to Basirhat Forest Division that has the highest number of tiger straying incidences for the last 10 years. This puts the community and animals at risk for potential human-wildlife conflict.
