Florida residents used a barbecue grill to trap a 12-foot Burmese python Thursday night in Florida City, police said.
The snake was initially spotted in the middle of the road in a gated community before residents were able to wrangle it, according to Bay News 9.
"We managed to get it in the barbecue and under the cover of the barbecue," Juan Rivero Sr. told Bay News 9. "The owner of the house brought us a pillow case, and eventually the tail just went in the pillowcase, so we had to use the barbecue cover to get it into it."
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's venom team responded and captured the python at 10 p.m., according to team spokesman Arnold Piedrahita Jr..
