Summary: During an extensive sampling of the water mite fauna across the Atlantic rainforests of Brazil, a new mite genus has been proposed and diagnosed. The research also led to the discovery of a new species, called Bromeliacarus cardoso after its collection point, the State Park of Ilha do Cardoso, São Paulo, Brazil.
