AN ALBINO King snake is being looked after at a specialist centre in the Vale of Clwyd after causing quite a bit of excitement among the residents of Wrexham.
The three-foot long snake was spotted in a hedgerow in the town.
“His unexpected appearance is reported to have startled a number of people who were caught unawares and the wildlife experts were called in to catch him.
He has now been housed at the North Wales Raptor and Reptile Sanctuary, near Ruthin and is thriving in the new conditions.
Trustee Jane Drinkwater said the snake had almost certainly been kept in captivity and somehow got out into the wild.
“We have already got one of these here so we have called the latest addition Albino King Two.
“If any Evening Leader readers can think of a different name we would be interested to hear from them.”
Jane added Albino King Two was a little bit thin when he first arrived but is settling in well.
Albino King snakes originate in the USA but are not poisonous.
