A British mother on holiday in Gibraltar claims to have been sexually assaulted by monkeys.

Melissa Hart, 23, a baker from Macclesfield, said she was attacked after going to see the island's famous Barbary macaques while wearing a bikini.

Miss Hart, who was visiting the Rock on a day trip from Marbella, said she approached the monkeys who two of them began to pull at her clothes and hair.

Miss Hart said the monkeys touched and pawed her 'intimate areas' before pulling her top off. After escaping she went to a police station to file a complaint, but was told the animals couldn't be charged

Speaking to Olive Press, she said: 'I felt totally helpless as these two monkeys grabbed and pawed me in my most intimate areas.

'Then, with a yank, one of them pulled my bikini top straight off.'

But despite her plight, Miss Hart said none of the other tourists standing around stepped in to help, and instead began laughing.
